The term “massage therapy” encompasses many different techniques involving the manipulation of the muscles and other soft tissues of the body for therapeutic purposes either by using hands and instruments/tools. The pressure can differ based on the client’s needs and the purpose of the massage. Some techniques requires to use elbow, fist and forearm to reach deep layer of tissue and stimulates trigger points (deep tissue massage). Unlike what is believed deep tissue massage is not a painful massage only designed for who is seeking for a strong massage but it is also a very relaxing massage that suits most everyone. However the classic relaxing or de-stress massage (known as swedish massage) is more suitable for who likes a more gentle but firm massage and is also suggested in presence of some medical condition where is required a more gentle massage and for elderly
